Crochet Moon
For my Hackathon I made a crochet moon. I wanted to try crocheting because it has been something I've been interested in for a while but have not done before and I thought it would be a good time for me to try and develop that skill.

I really enjoyed making this and even though it does not look the prettiest I was proud of myself since it was my first time doing a bigger crochet project like this!

Materials:
- Crochet yarn
- 4.5mm crochet hook

Steps
Leading up to the Hackathon, I practiced different crochet techniques so I would not be completely lost. I originally was going to make a coaster, but I wanted a tutorial that was more in-depth than what I found online.

I instead decided to go with this crochet moon pattern tutorial I found that was for an absolute beginner like I was.
I started with a simple eight chain from a slip knot.
Then I did a half-double crochet increase, a double crochet increase, and three treble crochet in a stitch.
Then I did a double crochet increase and a half double crochet increase. Then I finished the piece off with a single crochet and a slip stitch.
I then repeated this process a second time and turned out with a much better end product.
The tutorial originally was going to have the two be stitched together using a needle but I did not have the right size to let the thread through so I left it as it was.
Comparing the two side by side you can really see the difference in improvement over just one project so I am really happy with and proud of my progress! I hope to do more crochet in the future.
